AGTC 2013 Review

With more than 500 delegates from 33 countries gathering in Thailand’s top golf destination, Pattaya, the 2nd annual Asia Golf Tourism Convention was a resounding success. The AGTC will now head to China, where it will be hosted by award-winning golf resort Mission Hills Haikou on Hainan Island from 31 March to 3 April 2014

Taking the 3rd AGTC to China in 2014 is an incredibly exciting step for IAGTO because in one fell swoop we will be able to showcase the fastest developing golf and tourism destination in the Asia-Pacific region while simultaneously introducing sellers from across the region to the largest-ever gathering of golf travel buyers from the world’s fastest-growing outbound tourism market – China.

Mission Hills Haikou is the perfect venue for this event, representing as it does a complete golf destination in itself and the gateway to the international tourism island of Hainan with its enormous array of golf courses, topography and culture, all within a beautiful tropical setting.

During the 2013 convention, held at Pattaya’s Royal Cliff Hotel and PEACH Convention Centre, 146 tour operator buyers from 29 countries had more than 4,000 meetings with 302 seller companies including golf resorts, golf clubs, hotels, inbound operators and tourist boards from 19 countries across the Asia-Pacific region and beyond: Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, China, Hong Kong, Mongolia, Vietnam, Cambodia, the Philippines, Japan, Korea, Brunei, Singapore, Mauritius, India, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Australia and New Zealand. Almost 70 seller companies were from Thailand alone. There were also 60 media, guests and dignitaries at the show.

In 2013 the host destination of Pattaya put on a series of spectacular functions which augmented the 12 hours of tightly-scheduled business appointments. AGTC is now firmly established as the golf tourism industry’s premier event in the Asia-Pacific region.
