Al Mouj ranked #2 golf course in the Middle East by one of golf’s most prestigious lists - Golf Digest Middle East Rankings 2020

Success continues for Al Mouj Golf and its Greg-Norman designed layout as it is named #2 golf course in the Middle East in the Golf Digest Middle East Rankings 2020. This placed Al Mouj Golf in Muscat, Oman, following the Emirates Golf Club flagship course, The Majlis, in Dubai (ranked #1) and ahead of the remarkable Kyle Phillips design, Yas Links Abu Dhabi (ranked #3), further showcasing Oman’s potential to continue growing as a golfing destination.

The rankings serve to celebrate and reward exceptional world-class courses in the Middle East. Marked out of 80, a specially selected panel judge the course on seven criteria; ranging from the memorability and ambiance of the course to shot values and resistance to scoring.

“These rankings further cement Al Mouj as one of the best golf courses in the Middle East, if not in the world,” commented Nasser bin Masoud Al Sheibani, Al Mouj Muscat CEO.

“The team here at Al Mouj Golf, continue to strive towards offering every guest a completely unique and world-class experience. We are delighted and honoured to be placed 2nd in these respected rankings and we will continue to work to develop awareness for our fantastic offerings, both on-and-off the course, supported by our new campaign; The Time is Now.”

Host venue to the European Tour’s Oman Open, the links venue received significant acclaim at this year’s tournament from players and golf fans alike for its spectacular design, which sweeps along the Indian Ocean and affords breath-taking views of Muscat and the Hajar Mountains.

A championship course of the highest standard, Al Mouj Golf also received considerable praise earlier in the year for its host of sustainable and community friendly practices, which have been instrumental in bringing a plethora of wildlife and bird species to the area. The Muscat venue has also raised over $100,000 for Autism-related charities and set up a range of community golf programs designed to increase the reach of golf in Oman.

The announcement comes as Oman continues to acquire a reputation as one of the world’s most exciting new golf destinations. In addition to the Sultanate’s leading golf course, visitors will discover some of the world’s most alluring attractions in the Middle East, including the Dimaniyat Islands, a protected nature reserve home to an abundance of coral and sea life, and Muscat, the country’s understated and charming capital which provides a refreshing contrast to the skyscraper-studded cities synonymous with Oman’s neighbouring countries.
