La Hacienda Links Golf Resort’s status as one of Spain’s elite golf venues will be further elevated when the Cádiz venue hosts the finale of the 2025 Santander Golf Tour later this year.
From November 19-21, the country’s best female golfers will descend on the resort’s Heathland course to crown the tour’s tenth ever champion in the Santander Spanish Women’s Professional Championship.
With a total prize fund of €60,000 – of which €18,000 will go to the winner – the event is among the most lucrative in Spanish golf.
Designed by Dave Thomas, the Heathland course is a challenging par-72 layout that offers panoramic views out to sea and even as far as Africa’s north coast. Participants will have to contend with Thomas’ technically demanding design style, undulating terrain and a strong chance of a stiff sea breeze if they are to earn the coveted trophy.
Javier Jimenez Casquet, director general at La Hacienda Links Golf Resort, said: “We are proud to host the Santander Spanish Women’s Professional Championship, a tournament which represents the best of Spanish golf and fits perfectly with the values of our resort. The Heathland course is in magnificent condition and will be a true challenge for the participants.”
Ahead of the 2024 season, the Heathland course benefited from a major transformation that changed the par of two holes, levelled two fairways and included significant landscaping work throughout. The project, which followed a similar refurbishment of the popular Links course, received acclaim upon the layout’s reopening.
La Hacienda Links Golf Resort has shot to the upper echelons of European golf in recent years thanks to significant investment in facilities both on and off the two 18-hole courses. The venue’s international reputation has never been stronger, particularly after the addition of the five-star Fairmont La Hacienda hotel.
Between 2022-2025, the resort added a new clubhouse and dining facilities, new halfway house, beach club and real estate; the Santander Spanish Women’s Professional Championship represents the latest key step in La Hacienda’s coronation as a new jewel of the industry.
