A great golf course and mouthwatering gastronomy are two of the essential ingredients for a memorable day’s golf and players can enjoy both in abundance at Palmares Ocean Living & Golf over the coming months with the resort’s new Summer Events programme.
Two distinctive gastronomic experiences, Golf & Tapas and 19th Hole, are just two of the activities included in a wide and varied schedule that also features yoga, live-cooking demonstrations and traditional Algarve nights that the sports and lifestyle venue is staging weekly between now and September.
Offering 27 holes, golf is one of the main attractions at Palmares and is a central theme of the summer calendar at the Algarve resort, which sits in a magnificent setting overlooking the Bay of Lagos and the Alvor Estuary. Integrated into the natural amphitheatre of the Bay of Lagos, the venue is regarded as one of Portugal’s premier golf venues and features three nine-hole loops – Alvor, Lagos, Praia – which were redesigned by Robert Trent Jones Jnr and, sweeping down to the oceanfront, deliver their own unique test.
As well as enjoying world-class golf, players can unwind after 18 holes this summer by experiencing the culinary flair of Michelin-starred head chef Louis Anjos and his team at Palmares’ stunning clubhouse, named as Europe’s Best Golf Clubhouse at the 2024 World Golf Awards.
A choice of two gastronomic experiences is available: Golf & Tapas, which includes a charcuterie selection, cheese board and bread basket, or the 19th Hole, a more comprehensive choice featuring a selection of small dishes followed by a dish of the day. Both experiences also include one drink per person.
Golfers can also finetune their swings at one of the golf clinics that Palmares’ expert team of golf professionals is hosting every Wednesday, while there is plenty for non-golfers to enjoy when they head to the resort this summer.
People eager to relax, unwind and destress can take part in a complimentary yoga session at the driving range every Tuesday (mats provided) while Palmares is staging a series of candle and sewing workshops for guests eager to develop their creative skills in a relaxing environment.
In addition, golfers, residents and visitors have a further chance to indulge in some of the many gastronomic delights of the region with live cooking demonstrations and Algarve-themed nights all included in the packed programme.
Taking place every Sunday and Monday, ‘Live Cooking at Ofyr’ offers the chance to enjoy the culinary skills of Palmares head chef Anjos on a specially created clubhouse à la carte menu while listening to live music (Sundays only). Alternatively, food lovers can experience a themed Algarve night each Thursday, which features a special Portuguese-themed menu with live music, or head to the resort’s Michelin star restaurant Al Sud for an evening of fine dining and culinary excellence.
Golfers looking to stay at Palmares can choose from a wide range of luxurious accommodation, including opulent one, two and three-bedroom signature apartments and the boutique 20-room Palmares Beach House Hotel.
As well as Palmares, Details - Hospitality, Sports, Leisure – currently manages ten golf venues in Portugal, including Vilamoura and the newly rebranded PGA Aroeira Lisboa. The group also manages 18 hotels across the country.
