Aphrodite Hills Resort has officially redefined the tee-time experience with the launch of a new, state-of-the-art starter hut this summer.
Far more than a traditional pre-round check-in point, the impressive new addition to the Cyprus sporting destination includes a fully functioning café and outdoor seating area, setting the tone for an elevated golfing experience before the first shot is even struck.
A visiting player’s last stop before taking on the course’s par-four opening hole, the hut is well-stocked with scorecards and a wide variety of refreshments – with drinks including complimentary chilled water from the refill fridge, wine, champagne, prosecco, coffee and smoothies - to provide a relaxing start and give golfers everything they could possibly need for their round.
And with Aphrodite Hills Resort’s 18-hole championship course offering two nine-hole loops, the new building also offers a welcome respite for golfers midway through their rounds as a halfway house or at the end for a refreshing drink or light bite. With a comprehensive menu ranging from breakfast-filled brioche buns, bagels and wraps to salads, hot and cold sandwiches, Mediterranean delights such as Pinsa Bruschetta, savouries and snacks, there is plenty to choose from.
The starter hut is just example of the ambitious plans to reinforce Aphrodite Hills Resort’s position as one of Europe’s premier sporting destinations across the coming years, with further exciting developments – including the launch of the first Trackman Range in Cyprus, a major renovation to its Sports Hub and more – either already complete or in progress.
Miguel Girbes, director of golf and sports at Aphrodite Hills Resort, said: “With so many incredible golf venues in Europe it isn’t enough to have an exceptional course. The golfing experience at Aphrodite Hills starts long before you hit your first tee shot and we wanted our starter hut to set the tone for an unforgettable round of golf.”
Designed in 2002 by acclaimed architect Cabell B. Robinson, the course at Aphrodite Hills Resort is defined by panoramic views of the Mediterranean Sea throughout. In October 2020, the DP World Tour staged the inaugural Cyprus Open on Robinson’s design, won by Englishman Callum Shinkwin.
Girbes added: “There is a very exciting few years ahead for Aphrodite Hills Resort, and the impressive new starter hut is just the beginning of that investment. A key goal is to maintain our reputation as one of the best sporting destinations in Europe and these developments are an important part of that process.”
While Aphrodite Hills Resort is the home of PGA National Cyprus, golf is just one string of the resort’s sporting bow. Guests can also enjoy tennis, padel and basketball among breathtaking scenery and world-class facilities, while there is also an acclaimed equestrian centre and regular footballing clinics hosted by former Premier League stars.
Easily reachable from the cities of Paphos and Limassol, Aphrodite Hills Resort’s 234-hectare estate is headed up by a 290-room, five-star hotel and award-winning spa facilities. The venue offers various rental and real estate opportunities for prospective residents who, along with guests, can also take advantage of a diverse range of shopping and dining outlets.
