Golf Holidays By Morgan launch brochure for Morocco

15 April 2024

Golf Holidays By Morgan is an upscale golf tour operator sending discerning golfers all over the world.

April 15 sees the launch of their largest brochure yet for Morocco.

“I’ve been a fan of Morocco for nearly 20 years and have seen it progress from a destination that was great for food, culture and hospitality to a fully-fledged golf destination” says Morgan. “We feature five key regions, each with their own character and USP’s and each with one to six highly-recommended golf courses. There are other decent courses too but I only suggest those that are really worth the journey.

We’ve seen a great upsurge in clients booking Morocco and we hope that the brochure will continue that trend. I think clients are choosing there because of the weather, their friends’ recommendations, ease of access and the incredible value. Morocco also has a strong cultural and geographical aspect that very few countries can rival”.

“Morocco has been the entry-point to Africa for many nations over the centuries and its strong links to France and the inherent skills of the Moroccan people ensure that the quality of hotels, the décor and the attention-to-detail are very, very impressive. Food is a wonderful mix of African and Arabian spices and Mediterranean savoir-faire. The weather is perfect for year-round play although you’ve got to be a sucker for punishment if you want to play golf in Marrakech in the heat of the summer! The other destinations are fine as they benefit from the Atlantic breezes”.

Morgan started working in the golf travel business as a teenager and built French Golf Holidays, GolfPlanet, Concierge Collection and Play & Stay. His companies have won Best Specialist Operator of the Year. He grew up staying in beautiful hotels around the world on his parents' frequent travels and has played golf for British Universities and in the French National Amateur Championship for Fontainebleau. He’s played more than 1500 golf courses around the world. He's also passionate about cooking and been “Guest Chef” in professional kitchens.

After leaving the golf travel business in 2014, he came back to it in 2018. “I started Golf Holidays By Morgan because more and more of my past clients were asking me to book their holidays. So what was an occasional favour became a business again. But I wanted to make sure that the service remained personal and that I spent time looking after my clients instead of looking after colleagues. I also wanted to focus on the higher-end of golf holidays as that is more fun and enables me to use my long-established contacts”.

The brochure for Morocco follows our brochures for Mallorca and Mauritius. Coming soon will be South Africa. They are not your standard golf holiday brochures – they are more personal and detailed and give the reader the “insider’s view” i.e. the good and the not-so-good.

“We don't sell "golf holidays", we sell "holidays with golf and cultural experiences" - not only does this mean that our clients have a more fulfilling holiday but it also means we can show-off our knowledge and our clients are more likely to bring their non-golfing friends and their family. It's no accident that the average number of passengers per booking is higher than it was when I was sending 15,000 golfers to France every year... I've changed and our clients' requirements have changed”.

Despite the economic and other woes constantly marketed by government, the average spend per client has never been higher. We have families spending over £100,000 on a two-week holiday for four people. Whilst this is relatively common in the true (and increasingly crazy) luxury market, it's very rare in the golf market.

“We've seen an upsurge in long-haul holidays to places like Mauritius and the Caribbean and also an eagerness to try hitherto reluctant destinations like Morocco. One of my favourite phrases is "travel the world with your golf clubs"... We all know that playing golf is a brilliant excuse to travel and, in addition to private tours, cultural experiences and dining, makes the holiday far more complete and far more memorable.

I'm happy to share the guides with journalists and to discuss reciprocal links and how we can help each other - for example for me to share quality content and insights to the journalists' readers and viewers. Marketing has become so much more communal now so it's time to share!"
