ORIZONTE also boasts a selection of well-established coastal accommodation options dotted within the beautiful Costa Azul region and the management group has just launched some stunning new stay-and-play golf packages incorporating its Ribagolfe, Quinta do Peru and Aroeira courses.
There are two hotel options in Sesimbra, a picturesque fishing village nestled in a sheltered bay in the Setúbal District, while there is also the chance to stay in Caparica, a lively and modern resort town boasting stunning coastline views.
Four nights at the refurbished Tryp Costa da Caparica, located right on the sea just 30 minutes from the airport, includes a round at Quinta do Peru and two rounds at Aroeira, starting from just €293 (£264), while a seven-night stay with two rounds at Quinta do Peru and Aroeira and one at Ribagolfe, starts from €490 (£440).
A four-night stay at the SANA Sesimbra, with the same golf options as Caparica, starts from just €284 (£255), while a seven-night stay is priced from €462 (£415). The Sesimbra Hotel and Spa starts from €311 (£280) and €482 (£433) respectively with free access to the state-of-the-art pool, sauna, Turkish bath, tropical shower, Swiss shower and gym.
All three courses – Aroeira I, Aroeira II and Quinta do Peru all provide different tests of golf in stunning surroundings, and the hotels ensure the perfect base whether you wish to explore Lisbon or just relax and enjoy unrivalled views of the sea.
Quinta do Peru Golf & Country Club has established itself as one of Portugal’s top golfing venues with its 6,660-yard, par-72 parkland layout. This wonderful Rocky Roquemore-designed course, which opened in 1994, is rated among the top 100 courses in Europe in the highly respected Golf World magazine rankings between 1999 and 2014.
Created by Frank Pennick, Aroeira hosted the Portuguese Open in 1996 and 1997 and was once dubbed the ‘Wentworth of Lisbon’ as it meanders through tall pine trees, reminiscent of some of Surrey and Berkshire’s finest old clubs.
Together with its sister course – Aroeira II – it is spread over 350 hectares of estate surrounded by thousands of pines and several lakes, and boasts a golf school, clubhouse, tropical swimming pool and tennis courts that can all to be enjoyed within a temperature microclimate.
ORIZONTE has gained an enviable reputation for delivering some of the best golfing experiences on the market thanks to its stunning array of challenging courses, luxurious accommodation in a region of outstanding natural beauty.
