THE BUENAVENTURA GOLF & BEACH RESORT JOINS MARRIOTT’S AUTOGRAPH COLLECTION HOTELS FOLLOWING RENOVATION

The luxury resort on Panama’s Pacific Coast becomes the destination’s second Autograph Collection Hotel

Rio Hato, Panama – The Buenaventura Golf & Beach Resort, the centerpiece of the destination’s family-friendly Buenaventura resort community, joins Marriott International’s distinctive portfolio of one-of-a-kind Autograph Collection Hotels. The announcement comes as the resort completes a renovation to enhance its guestrooms, restaurants and meeting spaces, as well as the addition of the Buenaventura Zoo.

Autograph Collection Hotels celebrate the independence and individually of each location, incorporating the personality of the destination. The Buenaventura fits perfectly into the collection with its bold design and warm Panamanian hospitality. Built around a majestic 100 year old Corotu tree, the Buenaventura incorporates classic Panamanian elements into its modern design through art, cuisine, and activities, enriching guests with meaningful experiences throughout their stay.

“Being an Autograph Collection Hotel is an honor,” said Víctor Concepción Perén, Buenaventura Golf & Beach Resort general manager. “Panama is the epicenter of Latin America where so many of the region’s cultural treasures come together, giving the destination a colorful personality that we explore throughout our property. We’re perfectly positioned to represent the Autograph Collection with our independent take on an authentic Panamanian vacation experience.”

To meet the demands of today’s discerning explorer, the Buenaventura’s unique design includes carefully curated décor accents meant to serve as conversation starters and foster a connection to the destination’s culture. The renovation enhances that important element of the Buenaventura experience with a refresh to its 118 guestrooms, suites and villas with a stylish makeover including new handcrafted pillows and handwoven traditional chunga baskets influenced by the country’s central provinces.

The resort’s five main restaurants were upgraded to bring a current look to the culinary offerings as well as the menus. As a destination resort, Buenaventura features numerous dining options so guests never have to dine at the same restaurant twice. Guests can start their day with a traditional breakfast buffet in Criollo Restaurant, enjoy fresh seafood and prime cuts at Asa’o & Pesca’o or indulge in a handcrafted cocktail at Palapa Bar.

A destination setting for group events, the resort recently added two new meeting spaces for a total of 2,056 square feet of functional space. Created as an extension of the meetings facilities, the new rooms feature floor to ceiling windows to bring the outside in and can accommodate a maximum of 150 people.

Also new with the conversion is the addition of the Buenaventura Zoo, which debuted this fall, bringing an added amenity to the long list of activities the resort offers guests. Home to monkeys, parrots, deer and much more, the zoo is a conservation and rehabilitation center that offers a one-of-a-kind learning experience for families.

Unique to the resort are custom-curated tours and activities created to immerse guests in the destination’s ecosystem, cultural sites and gastronomic offerings including bird watching at Valle de Anton, discovering archeological sites at El Caño and Sitio Conte, rum tasting at Hacienda San Isidro, rainforest canopy tours as well as on-site art and cooking classes. Meanwhile, it’s The Buenaventura’s private golf course that is the main guest attraction. Developed by the Nicklaus Design team and managed by the world’s largest golf management company, Troon, the 18-hole, 72 par championship golf course is designed around hundreds of mature Corotu trees and features vast fairways, beach bunkers and a lush native landscape.
