After the success of last year, the Villaverde Hotel & Resort Wellness Spa & Golf was the protagonist of international golf at the Senior Italian Open (September 8-10), a tournament of the Senior European Tour.
This Tour, which takes place in the most beautiful international tourist locations, has as protagonists the glories of golf over 50 such as Ronan Rafferty, Magnus P. Atlevi, André Bossert, Peter Fowler, Berry Lane, Philip Golding, Stephen Dodd and Italian Costantino Rocca.
The Pro Am Senior Italian Open presented by Villaverde Hotel & Resort was played on Thursday, September 7th at 12pm. 18 holes, 23 teams with one Pro and three amateurs, Shotgun competition. The Senior Italian Open had 57 competitors, including three amateurs. The prize pool was 350.000 Euros. Klark Dennis, the winner, won 52.500 Euros.
The Udine Golf Club is located in a very central position of Friuli Venezia Giulia, only few minutes far from Udine and San Daniele and one hour far from Venice. Founded in 1970, it obtained the affiliation to the Federation in 1972. The English architect John Dering Harris, assisted by the Venetian Marco Croze, prepared a first draft for 9 holes. Croze himself completed the golf course in 1995 by harmoniously supplementing it with additional 9 holes within the 73 hectares of the grounds. In 2013, Gabriele Lualdi concluded the acquisition of the golf complex and a year later engaged the agronomist Fulvio Bani to carry out a complete restyling of the golf course in order to have a championship golf course. During the Senior Italian Open the golfers will play on the updated golf course lay-out. Compared with last year, some holes have been remodeled while the holes five, seven and sixteen have been completely remade. Currently, the competition course is a Par 72 and it covers a length of more than 6.000 meters. Significant the new beautiful Driving Range and the technological Golf Academy.
The Golf Club Udine has recently hosted the Alps Tour (8-10 June 2017) and the fifth edition of the Italian Footgolf Open (7-9 July 2017), attended by some of the best players in the world.
