Golf Traveller launches gourmet golf series

27 September 2022

A new series of experiences combining the best of gastronomy with the best golf courses in the world has been launched by Golf Traveller.

Golf & Gastronomy will see travellers traverse the globe to not only play some of the finest and most exclusive courses, but then delve into the food and wine of the surrounding land, meeting chefs, cooks, wine makers and artisans along the way.

The series begins in Costa Brava, home to some of the world’s most iconic chefs, and includes a round at Spain’s famed PGA Catalunya, Michelin-starred dining in a 14th-century castle and a visit to the award-winning Castell de Peralada Winery.

Curated in partnership with Alex Mead, editor of award-winning gourmet travel title Food and Travel Magazine, Golf & Gastronomy will deliver authentic gourmet golf at every turn. “As someone who has been lucky enough to play on some of the world’s most spectacular courses, I know what a difference quality, authentic cuisine can make to the experience,” explains Alex. “I’ve walked off Kauri Cliffs and then sampled the most tender lamb; I’ve battled Lofoten Links in the Arctic Circle and then been served the freshest cod, line-caught just hours before; and a day playing at Ryder Cup venue Le Golf National was rounded off perfectly with a degustation menu at Gordon Ramsay au Trainon in the heart of Versailles – that my scorecard for was perhaps never quite as hoped made little difference, it was all about this most perfect combination of golf and gastronomy.”

Bookings are now being taken for a limited number of places on the inaugural four night experience, with all guests staying at the 5-star Hotel Peralada in Costa Brava. Euan Gillon, co-founder of Golf Traveller, said: “It’s no secret that great food and great golf are the two key components for every great golf holiday, and it’s an unwritten rule in every one of our itineraries that the local cuisine has to be authentic and the highest quality – what you eat and drink, can create just as many unforgettable memories as the golf.

Golf & Gastronomy is about bringing together our extensive experience of the destinations that excel on both counts together with the additional expertise of gourmet travel experts such as Alex. We can’t wait to get started.”

Golf & Gastronomy Costa Brava, will take place between 19th-23rd April 2023. To discover more about the new series, visit golftraveller.com
